Oilers Fall to Cannons

The Granite City Oilers watched the game slip away early and could not recover in a 9-3 loss to the Edinburgh Cannons on Sunday. The Cannons scored first on a double by Miguel Del Rosario, on a 1-2 count, then Kit Searle scored on a wild pitch, followed by a bases clearing double by Ruari Dunn, who would later score on another wild pitch, all in the second inning. After just two innings, the score was 6-0 to the Cannons. The Edinburgh Cannons scattered ten hits in the game. Rowe and Dunn all had multiple hits for the Cannons.

The Oilers would struggle to put runs on the board early in the game. They would eventually tally nine hits on the day, scoring three runs, but it all came a little too late.

Jared Thomley and Stephen Evans would manage multiple hits for the Oilers, with two hits each. When the Oilers were on base, they were active, stealing nine total bases on the day. Thomley led the way with four stolen bases.

Peter Rowe was the winning pitcher for the Cannons. Rowe surrendered zero runs on five hits over three innings, striking out three and walking one. Harris and Kit entered the game out the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

After an impress opening day outing for Lass Kobani, getting his first win on the mound, he would unfortunately take the loss for the Oilers, allowing four hits and six runs over three innings. Kobani is now 1-1 on the season for the Oilers.
